This paper reports on a collaborative self-study that explored and evaluated how we, as PETE professionals, interfaced with the roles and actions of being educational advocates. Playing an interactive game of advocacy ‘blackjack’ we offer attendees chances to twist on a number of advocacy cards that we are promoting, maintaining, and defending. Some of these advocacy cards include: school district advocacy; intra-departmental politics; inter-agency program accreditation submission; and teacher candidate advocacy and critical empowerment.
