0 A Self-Study of Faculty Collaboration During NASPE Program Report Preparation

Thursday, October 4, 2012: 2:45 PM-3:35 PM
Planet Hollywood: Sunset 6
NASPE/Collegiality and Collaboration in PETE
Speakers: Adrian P. Turner; Geoffrey A. Meek; and Pamela A. Bechtel, Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH
Many PETE faculty have engaged in NASPE Program Report preparation but few have studied the collaborative elements in this academic process. Using Collaboration Theory (Gajda) as a basis for self-study, five PETE faculty transcend four stages of collaboration. We examine the complexities emerging within our group space that include specific team tensions (“Hell’s Kitchen”) in the report preparation phase, building trust, the redefinition of an intellectual community, and the strained role of a faculty “champion”.
