| Measurement Symposium: Essentials and Process in Scale Development–A Tutorial |
				| Scale development has been a common practice in movement sciences research. Nevertheless, most of these scales were exploratory in nature (i.e., without undergoing the validation process). The purpose of this symposium is to provide a rigorous measurement model to facilitate researchers in the scale development process. Emphasis will be placed on the steps and techniques that can enhance the reliability and validity of a scale. More specifically, the symposium will be divided into four sections: formulation of factors and items, pilot data collection, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis. Real research examples will be presented throughout. |
