Limited physical activity is a great concern for individuals with disabilities. Individuals with disabilities are three times as likely to be overweight/obese, have cardiac and/or respiratory issues, etc. (Rimmer, 2008). In this session, we will share a physical activity mentoring program called Overcoming Barriers (OB). OB creates physical activity opportunities within schools, community venues, and college/university settings. The session will discuss the benefits of having a program, the steps needed to create and launch a program, as well as the challenges of making the program an essential part of the community.
