Social skills development is part of the physical education national standards 4 and 5. However, planning, implementing and assessing these standards are not so straightforward. Teachers need to intentionally teach specific and contextual social skills rather than using punishment as a solution to stop misbehavior. The purpose of this presentation is to provide teachers with tools to select target behaviors, implement step-by-step social skills strategies, and create an accountability system to assess these behaviors.
