Although physical activity (PA) is the central theme throughout all national standards for physical education, looming changes in our field (e.g., AAHPERD unification, cuts in PEP funding and PETE programs) and current public health initiatives (e.g., National PA Plan, Healthy People 2020, Let’s Move in School) have sparked momentous discussion pertaining to the role of PA promotion in PE programs.
