This presentation highlights a community of practice among faculty from three universities, students, and the state AHPERD. Specifically, four authentic approaches are explored that involve pre-service teachers in MAHPERD with the deliberate intent of motivating students to continue involvement beyond graduation. The essential role of the state executive board and the support of university faculty to create avenues for involvement as an access point for future involvement in the professional organization are featured.
