“Evidence-based practice” has entered the realm of physical education and physical education teacher education, placing a renewed emphasis on student assessment. National board certification, PEP grants, and federal teacher evaluation policies all require student achievement data to document success. In this session, issues related to collecting valid student achievement data to document teacher effectiveness in physical education, and the role of PETE in developing positive teacher appraisal policies and practices will be discussed.
