A review of PETE doctoral education showed there is wide discrepancy in the content knowledge preparation and in the experiences doctoral students receive in the USA. In this session we will present recommendations for best practices in doctoral education including core areas of content knowledge, expectations, and competencies for teaching, service, and scholarship expected of new professors. The format will use round tables to present, then seek feedback from participants to further shape these practices.
