Research demonstrates that K-12 teachers lack knowledge about legislative mandates and are unprepared to advocate for their programs. The first part of the session will focus on the results from a study in which 62 teacher educators were interviewed about how future teachers are educated to optimize legislative opportunities and advocate for their programs. The second part will involve participants in developing a consensus statement related to the role of teacher education in these areas.
