0 Same Activities, New Technologies: Teaching PE to the Net Generation

Friday, October 5, 2012: 10:30 AM-11:20 AM
Planet Hollywood: Sunset 3
NASPE/Preparing Teachers for Today’s K-12 Students and Schools (e.g., Technology, Cultural Competency/Relevance, Adapted PE, Coaching Education)
Speaker: Megan Adkins, University of Nebraska-Kearney, Kearney, NE
Physical Educators need to evaluate how instruction and demonstrations are presented to a generation of children who are engrossed in technology. Developing a curriculum for the net generation does not mean changing content, but by implementing QR Codes, Google docs, Vodcasts, iPads and more, the same activity turns into a “new,” and improved one. Within this session attendees will be provided example activities and instructions to implement technologies from the elementary to the college level.
