There are persistent concerns related to the recruitment of qualified physical education teacher candidates who are capable of meeting professional expectations in the schools. This presentation is expected to provide PETE faculty with recommendations for best practice in teacher candidate recruitment including characteristics of successful teachers as the basis for recruitment, fundamental principles of effective marketing and recruitment, generational characteristics of college-bound students and practical implications, and recruitment of underrepresented populations.
