This seminar will examine the main aspects of depression among low income and underserved K-12 student populations and will evaluate potential sources of these disparities including the role of poverty, education and stereotyping. Participants will investigate what depression is and why it occurs; identify signs and symptoms of depression; and determine strategies to overcome depression in the educational setting.
