This session will provide an overview of current research related to motor abilities for those with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Recent numbers include 1 in 68 children, thus the need for training is increasing exponentially. While the current diagnostic criteria for ASD, does not include motor deficits, research within the past five years has provided evidence illustrating deficits in motor skills, physical fitness and general physical activity patterns. Implications for instruction will be provided.
