Research Symposium: Celebrating 75 Years of the Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport
The Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport has just completed 75 years as the leading interdisciplinary research journal in our field. To celebrate the contributions of RQES a special issue will be published in June 2005. This symposium brings together the authors of the articles that will be in the 75th anniversary special issue. After a brief introduction, authors will provide an overview of their contributions. The first group of presentations will deal with individual research areas (i.e., motor behavior, biomechanics and exercise physiology, exercise and sport psychology, health and physical activity, sociology, history and philosophy, and pedagogy) and the role RQES has played in the development and evolution of those areas. The final three presentations will discuss historical issues in the evolution of RQES, an analysis of contributions, and writing in RQES. The session will end with discussion among the presenters and the audience.
