Sports Concussion and the Effects of Cumulative Head Impacts in Youth Sport |
This symposium will examine theoretical, empirical and practical information pertaining to sports concussion and cumulative head injuries in youth sport. The symposium addresses three areas related to sports concussion: 1) recognition, 2) management and neuropsychological testing, and 3) post-concussion issues. Neuropsychological testing and empirically based recognition of concussion related pathophysiology, symptoms and behaviors will be emphasized. The role of repetitive heading in soccer will be examined in relation to neurocognitive decrements, symptoms, and concussion susceptibility.
