AGENTS: Ethical Issues Involving Student Athletes |
The increase in player's salaries, expanded media coverage and the globalization of sport has had a profound effect on the status of amateur, professional and intercollegiate sports. One challenge has been the issue of agents. The overt commercialism of sport poses complex issues regarding accountability and mechanisms to address the problem of agents on campus. This session will address the "High School" and collegiate athletes affected by this growing societal issue. The LeBron James phenomenon will be discussed in detail, as one of the most recent and vivid examples. |
