Learning Activities and Moderator Skills Designed to Engage Online Learners |
Does your online course look like a web-based correspondence course? Is the content static? Are the learners passive? Research indicates that student satisfaction with online courses is directly linked to the quality and quantity of interaction - interaction among students and between students and faculty. Quality, content-based interaction is increased through well-crafted learning experiences and effective moderating. The presenters will share activity design guidelines and instructor-moderator strategies that facilitate online interaction regardless of content area. During the workshop, participants will actually engage in asynchronous online activities. These activities will demonstrate the effective use of moderated threaded discussions in collaborative learning activities. |
