Healthy Hearts: Promoting Physical Activity and Good Nutrition in Elementary-age Children |
With the national emphasis on reducing obesity, new interventions to promote physical activity and good eating habits in children are being implemented in our schools, both in physical education class and in the classroom. One such intervention, Healthy Hearts, is an instructional module that focuses on improving physical activity, nutrition, and tobacco-related knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. The web-based program allows children to track their physical activity and diet, and participate in educational activities, including quizzes and games. The session is appropriate for all elementary teachers who are interested in integrating physical education, health, language arts, and math through technology. |
