COPEC Day: Tots in Action!: P.E. for Preschoolers |
More and more elementary schools are adding classes for preschoolers. While it is critical that physical activity be included in their school experience at this age, planning physical education for these little munchkins can be quite challenging. This session will demonstrate use of age-appropriate activities and equipment in a mastery motivational climate. In this type of climate, centers with different skills (e.g., throwing, striking, rolling) are set up. Within each center, the children make choices that help them be more successful (e.g., what size of ball to throw, which target to aim at, which paddle/racket to use when striking a suspended ball). |
