The ACL Injury Problem: Strategies for Screening and Prevention |
Girls and women who play basketball and soccer are much more likely to injure the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee than their male cohorts. A concerted effort by all who work with female athletes--whether coaches, physical educators, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning specialists, or parents--is needed to reduce this gender gap. Attendees will improve their ability to contribute to ACL injury prevention efforts through this experiential workshop. Learn to translate laboratory lessons into on-court/on-field applications, recognize risky behavior, perform simple screening tests, and guide players in activities to develop lower extremity strength, balance and perceptual-motor skills. |
