Coaching Education: Knowledge, Skills and Values |
The purpose of this session is to discuss what a coach needs to know, be able to do, and value. We will attempt to bridge the gap between theory and practice by explaining how these objectives are operationalized in Smith College’s Graduate Program in coaching education, a recently accredited NCACE Level IV Program. Topics will include an overview of the program’s philosophy, its theoretical basis, and how the curriculum is structured to provide connections between class work and assistant coaching experiences. |
Keyword(s): athletics/sports, coaching, professional preparation
