Socio-Cultural Influences for Disordered Eating: A Critical Thinking Approach |
Disordered eating, an issue for high school and college female athletes, has recently been identified as a critical health concern for the average elementary student, both girls and boys. Early detection of signs and symptoms is critical toward prevention of disordered eating. The role of the health and physical educator, coaches, athletic trainers, parents, and media are implicated in the socio-cultural influences of disordered eating. Participants will encounter the latest research on disordered eating, engage in a learning activity that encourages critical thinking, and strategize practical ways to approach this important health concern. |
