Curriculum Development Based on NASPE Standards: From Paper to Practice |
This program will describe the process undertaken to develop a K-12 Physical Education curriculum based on the NASPE content standards, in a socio-economically and ethnically diverse suburban/urban school district. Presenters will describe a six-stage process that followed the format used for state standards in other academic areas. This process included:
1. Articulation of philosophy.
2. Identification of student performance benchmarks and indicators by standard.
3. Organization of benchmarks and indicators by grade level to facilitate curriculum planning.
4. Curriculum planning.
5. Identification of assessments and development of a report card.
6. Implementation of the curriculum. |
