Defending Physical Education Requirements Through Program Assessment |
This presentation is based on assessment results of class instruction effectiveness for students enrolled in collegiate health/fitness physical education classes. Approximately 250 students enrolled in 10 health/fitness classes (fitness & wellness; run conditioning; swim conditioning) participated in this study. Classes were similarly structured and students received identical instruction related to health/fitness concepts (body composition, muscular fitness, cardiorespiratory fitness, flexibility). Assessment was based on results from pre and post questionnaires related to student involvement in physical education. Performance data was obtained through pre and post cardiorespiratory fitness testing. Results were used to assess instructional effectiveness and the university’s physical education requirement. |
