Purpose, Development, and Utilization of a Distance Education Program for Physical Education |
Teaching physical education courses away from traditional settings is enhanced by computer and video technology. This presentation addresses the purpose of distance education (DE) programs and the development and utilization of such programs at the collegiate level. Also addressed are methods (justification, benefits, equipment, costs, support services, etc.) associated with establishing a distance education offering for activity and lecture classes. Pros and cons of DE are discussed from the student, faculty, and administrative perspective. Emphasis is on the discussion of computer / cable TV / video utilization for the purposes of communication, registration, instruction, testing/evaluation, and student feedback. |
