NASPE/Preparing Teachers for Today’s K-12 Students and Schools (e.g., Technology, Cultural Competency/Relevance, Adapted PE, Coaching Education)
Speaker: Amy Stringer, Elon University, Greensboro, NC
There is a growing trend in public schools requiring physical education teachers to include higher-level thinking and literacy education in their classrooms. This session offers PETE faculty a review of the relevant research regarding literacy education and various strategies to apply theory in the K-12 physical education setting including teaching styles, activities, and student questioning ideas. Undergraduate Methods class content and various options for the design of practicum experiences will be addressed.
