A thorough understanding of exercise physiology concepts including human physiology and biomechanics are critical for physical education teachers to design and implement quality physical education programs. This presentation will propose a theoretical model for increasing exercise physiology related content within teacher preparation and certification programs and will demonstrate how this model may translate into improved physical education programs which may help to address the health concerns facing children.
