AAHERCB/Research Study
Diabetes is a serious public health issue, affecting 10% of individuals worldwide and 25.8 million in the United States. Complications include heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney disease, and amputations. This session will provide health educators information on three interventions aimed at increasing knowledge and decreasing complications: (1) a diabetes education and treatment initiative in rural Louisiana, (2) a population-based intervention in India, and (3) an assessment aimed at increasing diabetic knowledge and decreasing diabetic amputations.
