464 J.B. Nash Scholar Lecture: Pedagogy of the Possible

Friday, April 26, 2013: 7:30 AM-8:30 AM
Convention Center: 212AB
AAPAR/Council for Adventure and Outdoor Education/Recreation
Speaker: Ben P. Dyson, University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand
This year's award recipient and speaker is Ben Dyson, Ph.D. from The University of Auckland. In the context of a narrowing school curriculum and high stakes testing in many countries, Dyson will argue that Experiential Education remains meaningful and valuable. He will connect the dots between Experiential Education, Adventure Based Learning, and Cooperative Learning and link these concepts to J.B. Nash’s philosophy of the “hopeful traveler.”
