The purpose of our program is to remediate deficiencies in perceptual-motor development which impacts academic readiness. Components of perceptual motor development include unilateral, bilateral and cross lateral activities that help make connections in a young child's brain. Deficits in these areas often have a negative effect on academic readiness. Perceptual motor development impacts future learning and we, as elementary physical educators, must be certain that every child is given the opportunity to develop these skills.
