The rate of sedentarism in youth is cause for concern. Physical activity in pediatric populations is associated with reduced risk of obesity, and protection from chronic diseases. Modern physical activity and exercise interventions encounter many barriers in implementation. This presentation will: (A) introduce a novel methodology for use with adolescent populations, (B) review one aspect of fitness that is frequently ignored in most pediatric interventions, and (C) provide a historical and scientific review of relevant literature.
