375 Paid Versus Unpaid: Issues in Sport Management Internships

Due to extensive downsizing organizations have to do more with less, resulting in internships providing low-cost or free ways to audition candidates before they hire them. While about half of all internships nationwide are paid or have at least a small stipend, unpaid internships are most often centered in competitive fields, including sport (Lee, 2004). This presentation will offer insights into the paid versus unpaid issue of sport management internships.
