This session will provide participants with information, resources, and practical best practice strategies to make school sports teams safe, inclusive, and respectful for students of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Topics to be addressed include: assessing the athletic climate for LGBT students; setting positive team expectations for interactions; stopping name-calling, bullying, hazing in athletics; helping athletes to be student leaders in making schools safe; as well as, including transgender students on girls’ and boys’ teams.
