To create a folklorico dance representing a specific Mexican region, we must understand the many cultures and styles. In this workshop, participants learn footwork, movements and music of traditional compositions. Presenter Karla Mercado performed with the Ballet Folklorico Nacional de Mexico Aztlan. To complete the session, Sherry Holman teaches the team-building Mexican Ribbon Dance. Eight-foot streamers are woven to tie a beautiful bow, reversing the process for depth. Engaging for elementary through college levels.
