This workshop, designed for dance and physical education teachers, presents a successfully tested model for improvisation that results in a one-of-a-kind group dance.“Essence Dance" uses randomly selected word cards (verbs and adverbs) to build a dance. Together, participants analyze each word’s movement “essence” in terms of the basics: body, space, time, and relationship. Then we all explore our ideas in a guided improvisation to create a dance on the spot.
