Many professional associations and groups have started to recognize the health benefits of non-traditional physical activities such as gardening. The researchers were interested in the level of physical activity that participants experience while hunting. The physical activity of 22 deer hunters was analyzed using accelerometers. It was found that the level of physical activity exceeded the recommendations set forth by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
