Repeated design of a rich, electronic learning environment can be facilitated through a strategic, flexible, standardized course design model. Coupled with relevant, high quality learning objectives, opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness abound. An introduction to electronic learning environments, their boom and criticism, coupled with the unique demands placed on the learner and instructor will be explored. Cognitive load and constructivist teaching principles will be included. A sample course design model is shared.
