Tai Chi emerged as a martial art form in China around the 12th century. Over time, people began to use it mainly for health purposes. Today, millions of people around the world practice Tai Chi. This symposium is hosted by the Research Consortium in collaboration with the International Chinese Society for Physical Activities and Health and the China Sport Science Society . Tai Chi experts from China and the U.S. will congregate to discuss scientific evidence related to health benefits of Tai Chi, to examine critical factors that determine the success of Tai Chi interventions and to outline the future directions for Tai Chi research.
