Conference attendees will learn how one institution is addressing the proposed NASPE standard for teacher candidates regarding skill and fitness based competence. This standard requires physical education candidates to be physically educated with the knowledge and skills necessary to demonstrate competent movement performance and health enhancing fitness(NASPE draft, April 2008). Ideas will be provided on demonstrating teacher candidates’ competence in this new standard. In addition, a data management system for this standard will be presented.
