Beyond Borders: Sport for Development, Peace, and Social Change
Sport is a global phenomenon that transcends race, culture, religion, and social class. Given its prominence within society, sport-related organizations, national governments, and aid agencies have capitalized on its mass appeal for reaching important economic, social, and human development goals. The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of international programs using sport as a medium for a) development, b) peace and conflict resolution, c) addressing trauma, and d) initiating social change.
