Research Methods in Dance: A Symposium Garnering the Breadth of the Field of Dance
The methods used by scholars for conducting research in the field of dance are diverse. This symposium serves as an introductory tutorial and overview of two researchers’ approaches to studying dance. The first discusses the many facets of quantitative, empirical research methods, and the second presents Laban Movement Analysis as an example of a qualitative research method. Speakers will provide conceptual, theoretical, and practical applications of their methods. This symposium targets beginning researchers wishing to pursue research and writing in dance. Experienced researchers will also enhance their knowledge and skills for conducting, presenting, and publishing quality dance research.
