Dealing With Aggressive Behavior in Sport: Establishing and Enforcing a Code of Conduct
This presentation deals with the growing problem of aggressive behavior and violence in sport from the perspective of the participant, coach, official, and parent. It will present and invite discussion of examples of such aggressive behavior, including the growing problems of hazing and bullying. Discussions will provide a basis for the establishment of a code of conduct and a method for introducing that code to the physical education department, school district, and recreation department of a municipality. The discussion will address the steps necessary to enforce that code in the most effective method available to the party impacted by the behavior, be it the participant, coach, official, or parent.
