Physical Training to Prevent Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injuries Among Middle and High School Female Athletes
This session will review the current literature and research with regard to ACL injures among female athletes. The primary intent of this session is to specifically share and discuss methods of physical training (i.e., plyometrics, dexterity, resistance, etc.) that play a key role in reducing the incidence and severity of ACL tears among middle and high school-aged female athletes. Key points in this presentation will include mechanisms of non-contact ACL injuries, anatomical, hormonal and neuromuscular factors that Influence ACL injuries, recent advances in preventing non-contact ACL injuries. This session is appropriate for physical education and coaching professionals.
