Teaching to State & National Standards Through Sport Education
This presentation will highlight sport education as a vehicle to achieving state, national, and NASPE standards and other mandates. A discussion will ensue of a staff development system that used a "turn-key" trainer approach to help teachers develop familiarity with sport education; assist in preparing programs; and articulate the role sport education can play in meeting learning standards. Workshop presenters will represent public schools, teacher preparation institutions, and a state-wide staff development team in describing and critiquing the structure and function of sport education as a curriculum alternative. Discussant comments will provide an independent analysis of the staff development system.
