Placement of Athletic Trainers in High Schools
Although many large high schools have established positions for athletic trainers, the overwhelming majority of high schools in the U.S. still do not employ athletic trainers. In a day and time in which liability issues are a focus for most administrators the question still must be asked, why are there not athletic trainers present for all high school athletic events? This presentation will provide a foundation of information that focuses on liability issues that may influence decision-making during athletic injury scenarios, qualifications of athletic trainers, and suggestions on placement of athletic trainers in high schools.
