Walk This Way: Pedometer Guidelines, Research, and Applications
Pedometer usage for the purposes of increasing physical activity and monitoring physical activity levels continues to gain momentum. In this session experienced researchers who have bridged the gap between research and practice using pedometers will discuss: 1) Current steps/day guidelines for adults, 2) Current steps/day guidelines for children, 3) Research applications and techniques using pedometers, and 4) Pedometer applications for increasing the physical activity levels of children and youth. This comprehensive session will provide physical educators and community health educators with valuable knowledge and tools for pedometer-based research and physical activity promotion.
