Processing and Assessing Adventure-Based Activities During Physical Education
Relates to Standards 2, 5,& 6. Recent increases in the use of adventure education and initiative games in physical education classes has resulted in a broadening of perspectives regarding acceptable physical education curricula as well as enhancing methods by which students learn through movement. This activity session will provide K-5 physical educators with processing skills to draw greater meaning from adventure-based activities. Attendees will participate in various adventure-based activities as well as learn the steps to effective activity facilitation across the spectrum of grade level. In addition, strategies for student assessment and selecting appropriate activities will be discussed.
