While millions of youth worldwide participate in organized sports, about 35% of them drop out of sports each year (Petlichkoff, 1996).  Cohesion and retention in an athletic setting can be accomplished by creating a motivational and enjoyable atmosphere.  Using psychosocial and theoretical research from the business and sport psychology fields, construction models will be utilized to create a map for success in team building strategies. Emphasis will be given to new sport programs and strategies to create team building activities to retain athletes.
