A community-based obesity intervention program moves into two public elementary schools. The program addresses factors contributing to childhood weight problems that include exercise, nutrition, sleep, media, sweetened drinks as well as lack of parental knowledge and education. This program is building an evidence-base for the development of successful childhood obesity intervention/prevention programs which directly relates with the local, state and national initiatives for reducing the percentages of overweight and obese children and adolescents and promoting healthy growth and development.
